Position Summary
Aire Serv of Northeastern Minnesota is looking for a Home Comfort Designer / Outside Sales Representative to help residential and light commercial customers find the right heating, cooling, and indoor comfort solutions.
This role combines high-level customer interaction with technical HVAC system design. You’ll meet with customers, evaluate their comfort needs, perform heat gain and heat loss calculations, design proper system options, and present clear, professional proposals.
The right person for this role is organized, self-motivated, technically curious, and comfortable building relationships with customers. You should be able to explain HVAC options in a way that is easy to understand, while also paying close attention to job details so the installation team can deliver a smooth, high-quality project.
What You’ll Do
Design Comfort Solutions
Meet with residential and light commercial customers to evaluate heating, cooling, and comfort needs.
Inspect existing HVAC equipment, ductwork, venting, electrical requirements, gas piping, condensate drainage, and installation conditions.
Perform or coordinate heat gain and heat loss calculations.
Recommend properly sized heating and cooling equipment based on the home, customer needs, and project requirements.
Build system options that help customers make informed decisions.
Create a 5-Star Customer Experience
Deliver a professional, helpful, and low-pressure customer experience.
Explain system options, upgrades, warranties, financing, rebates, tax credits, and available customer benefits.
Guide customers through the decision-making process with clear communication and honest recommendations.
Build long-term relationships and create customers for life.
Own the Sales Process
Respond to assigned sales opportunities and inbound leads.
Follow up with customers after proposals are delivered.
Track open opportunities and keep communication moving.
Help customers move from interest to decision while maintaining professionalism and trust.
Build Accurate Project Scopes
Document job details clearly for office staff, installers, technicians, and management.
Provide photos, measurements, equipment selections, notes, and installation details needed for project planning.
Identify items such as duct modifications, venting changes, electrical needs, condensate solutions, gas piping changes, equipment access concerns, and other installation requirements.
Support a smooth handoff from sales to installation.
Stay Sharp and Keep Learning
Stay current on HVAC products, equipment updates, manufacturer changes, rebates, financing programs, utility incentives, and industry trends.
Attend sales meetings, product training, manufacturer training, and company training as needed.
Continue growing both technical HVAC knowledge and sales skills.

Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate brings a combination of HVAC technical knowledge and sales ability. Prior experience in HVAC service, installation, system design, estimating, or replacement sales is strongly preferred.
This role is a good fit for someone who understands how heating and cooling systems work, can evaluate jobsite conditions, and can also communicate clearly with customers, present options, and guide them through the buying process.
A strong fit for this role will have:
- Experience in HVAC sales, service, installation, estimating, or system replacement
- Ability to evaluate existing HVAC equipment, ductwork, venting, electrical needs, gas piping, condensate drainage, and installation conditions
- Ability to perform or understand heat gain and heat loss calculations
- Confidence recommending properly sized heating and cooling equipment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to explain technical information in a simple, customer-friendly way
- Good organization, documentation, and follow-up habits
- Comfort using digital proposal tools, CRM software, email, text, and phone communication
- Understanding of financing, rebates, warranties, maintenance plans, and equipment options
- Motivation to grow sales while delivering accurate recommendations and a 5-star customer experience

Benefits & Pay
The estimated yearly compensation range for this position is $80,000 to $130,000, and is based on your sales performance. Previous knowledge in sales or HVAC is preferred, but not required.
